Our Farm
Raising Pigs Responsibly Since 1983
Doug grew up on a dairy farm in rural West Concord. His parents, Louis and Theresa, decided to sell their dairy in 1976. Doug's love of livestock and entrepreneurial spirit then inspired him to get into raising pigs. Even though he started small in high school, it went well for him. After high school, he and Arleen married and they formed a partnership with his parents. They grew their farrow to finish operation over the years. Doug’s parents eventually retired, and Doug and Arleen continued to expand the operation to support their growing family.
Their three sons-- Darrin, Brad, and Collin-- and families are currently involved in the operation. Darrin oversees the feed mill, Brad manages the finishing barn productions, and Collin oversees the sow unit and nursery production. Arleen manages the office and Doug oversees operations.
Doug and Arleen grew the operation with great employees, grower partners, and a very dedicated family that always understood the value of hard work and dedication. They believe that family values, honesty, and integrity lead to the success of their business. You will find that these beliefs run deep in the Van Zuilen Family Farms organization.
